It involves the study of the structure and properties of plant life, including flowers and trees.

Botanic was more common up to the 20th century but has gradually faded out of use. Also included are plant classification and the study of the interactions of plants with their physical environment.

Herbal medicine, also known as botanical medicine, is a medical system based on the use of plants or plant extracts that are taken internally or applied to the skin. Since ancient times, herbal medicine has been used by many different cultures throughout the world to treat illness and to assist bodily functions.
